On October 19th, 2016 the Bucks County Planning Commission held an open house to provide the public with information on the proposed 3.3-mile Upper Bucks Rail Trail. The event was hosted at Richland Township Fire and Rescue in partnership with the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), Springfield and Richland Townships, as well as Quakertown Borough.
About fifty trail advocates and local officials joined a festive atmosphere at McCooles in Quakertown to celebrate the emerging trail network in the greater Quakertown Region.
The Bucks County Commissioners voted on January 6, 2016 to select the Doylestown based firm Boucher & James to provide design and engineering services for the planned Upper Bucks Rail Trail, which will be developed along a 3.3-mile stretch of unused track between Veterans Park in Richland Township, and the Bucks-Lehigh County line near Coopersburg.
