About fifty trail advocates and local officials joined a festive atmosphere at McCooles in Quakertown to celebrate the emerging trail network in the greater Quakertown Region.

Visitors were treated to a variety of maps depicting existing and planned trails that provide connectivity between the Saucon Trail Trail in Lehigh County and a planned rail trail in Bucks County, which will extend the SRT another 3.3 miles to Veterans Park.

AMC staff and project consultants from Campbell Thomas & Co. joined with members of the PA Highlands Steering Committee to greet guests and answer questions about planned trails and how the trail network will connect communities with parks and downtown areas.

Many thanks to Jan Hench, owner of McCoole’s at the Historic Red Lion Inn for providing the event space at McCoole’s Arts and Events Place. Jan was a member of the Richland Township Trails Committee and as such one of the early proponents of developing trails for local communities throughout the township.
