This section of the Highlands Trail route envisions a co-location with the short stretch of what is a 10-mile network of mountain bike trails located along the east side of Haycock Cover, in Nockamixon State Park. The mountain bike trail was developed by the Valley Mountain Bikers (partners of the International Mountain Bicycling Association.) All the trails in Nockamixon State Park are maintained cooperatively by park staff and the Friends of Nockamixon State Park.

This stretch of trail is part of what is the only legal mountain biking trail in the state par, and it’s a model of sustainable trail development. Hikers need to be aware that this is a popular, well used mountain biking trail and stay alert for cyclists as there are a few blind turns and curves between Tower Road and Rt. 563.
