Quakertown Approves Highlands Trail Route

Development of the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail Network marked another milestone in November when the Quakertown Borough Council unanimously voted to approve the proposed Highlands Trail route, after a number of public meetings and presentations to gather community input.

The northern Bucks County, PA town expressed excitement about hosting a new trail that will make possible pedestrian and bicycle friendly connections between the Borough’s excellent park system, revitalized downtown area, neighborhoods and schools. This section of the PA Highlands Trail Network will also help complete connections with the soon-to-be built Upper Bucks Rail Trail coming north from the Saucon Rail Trail in Lehigh County, and with a series of local trails just west of the Borough that lead to the Perkiomen Trail in Montgomery County.
