Using data from the Land and Trails Tracking System, the AMC Mid-Atlantic office created 12 interactive Story Maps that provide updates and expansions to the 2006 Highlands Conservation Atlas. Included in this update were conserved lands, conservation areas, and historic and recreational resources, which includes the PA Highlands Trail.
The Pennsylvania Highlands Trail Stewards and several volunteers in coordination with Tinicum Conservancy and Bridgeton Township are beginning to develop a 2-mile natural footpath in Bridgeton Township’s recently preserved open space in Upper Black Eddy, off of River Road. Work on the trail is set to begin in early October 2023.
After passage of the Highlands Conservation Reauthorization Act, a group of NGO’s, led by AMC, met and compiled findings and recommendations for implementing the changes to the Highlands Conservation Act Grant Program as outlined in the reauthorization bill.
