The Appalachian Mountain Club, Lehigh University, and PA DCNR partnered to produce a wayside panel located at the Lake Nockamixon spillway.
Dr. Frank Pazzaglia and Lehigh University student, Bianca Palomino, provided content expertise on the project, describing the spillway’s geologic past and rock formation. Lake Nockamixon was formed as a result of damming the Tohickon Creek in 1973. The dam’s spillway helps keep the 1,450-acre lake at an appropriate level for boating and fishing. Next time you’re out at Nockamixon State Park, be sure to check out the panel!
