On Friday, July 17th, the Pennsylvania Highlands Coalition hosted its first webinar program, “Power Lines, Pipelines and Protected Lands: Standing up for Places in the Path of Energy Transmission.”
You can listen to a recording of the discussion here.
Rob Marmet, a Senior Energy Policy Analyst at the Piedmont Environmental Council, discussed his work opposing Dominion and Allegheny Power’s Trans-Allegheny Interstate (TrAIL) transmission line in Virginia and also provided updates on current and anticipated proposals and their impact on protected lands. Kate Gonick, Director of Land Protection and In-House Counsel at Lancaster Conservancy, discussed challenges posed by the Williams Transco Central Penn Line, which is proposed to cut through high-value conserved lands in Lancaster County. A discussion about the implications of current energy infrastructure proposals for protected lands in the Highlands region followed the presentations.
