Segment #5 Lebanon Valley Rail Trail – Conewago Recreation Trail

The Pennsylvania Highlands Trail Network (PHTN) is envisioned to follow a 3.6 mile section of the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail (LVRT) and the entire 5.0 mile length of the Conewago Recreation Trail (CRT) along the former Cornwall-Lebanon Rail Line.

Lebanon Valley Rail Trail

The LVRT, a National Recreation Trail is located in Lebanon County. This former railroad that this trail follows provided both recreational and military-industrial transportation services during its history. The PHTN is envisioned to co-align with the LVRT at its connection with the Horse-Shoe Trail. In 2019, a new 1.8 mile section of the trail opened from Union Canal Tunnel Park to Long Lane in North Lebanon Township. To learn more about the LVRT and to view maps, click here.

Conewago Recreation Trail

The Conewago Recreation Trail is located in Lancaster County. Like the LVRT, this trail features level, well-graded surfaces with a mix of scenery including farmland, woods and towns. At the western end of the CRT, in West Donegal Township, Lancaster County, there is a nearly 5 mile gap to the Northwest River Trail along the Susquehanna River.
