AMC Partners for New Signage on the Schuylkill River Trail

AMC partnered with the Schuylkill River Greenways National Historic Area and Union Township to produce an interpretive sign along the Schuylkill River Trail. 

The interpretive kiosk provides information about recreation and historic resources along the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail Network. The kiosk, installed at Union Meadows Park near Birdsboro includes three panels. The first panel includes information about the many historic resources found in Union Township, Berks County and includes information about the cleanup of the Schuylkill River that led to the development of Union Meadows Park. The second panel shows a map of the Schuylkill River Trail and gives information about the National Heritage Area. The section of the Schuylkill River Trail from Oaks in Montgomery County to Union Township, Berks County, is a part of the PHTN. The third panel provides information about the Mid Atlantic Highlands and a provides a map of the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail Network. AMC looks forward to partnering with other agencies and municipalities to produce PHTN interpretive signage along local and regional trail sytems.

Highlight the Highlands: Riparian Forest Buffer of Tinicum Township

Tinicum Township, in Bucks County, is located entirely within the Eastern portion of the Pennsylvania Highlands. Abutting the Delaware River, Tinicum is an active and engaged community. #SaveLWCF: Jacobsburg State Park

The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) serves as the main funding mechanism for the Highlands Conservation Act, allowing for the yearly allocation to protect the Pennsylvania Highlands and the rest of the four-state Highlands region. Congressional authorization for the Land and Water Conservation Fund expires on September 30, 2018, and must be reauthorized in order for funding to continue.  Read More
