Lebanon Valley Rail Trail

The Lebanon Valley Rail Trail is a National Recreation Trail that travels through southwestern Lebanon County. Built on the corridor of the old Cornwall-Lebanon Rail Line, this former railroad provided recreational and military-industrial transportation services during its history. The trail passes by historic areas like the Borough of Mount Gretna and the Cornwall Furnace National Historic Site.

Highlands Trail Route

The Highlands Trail follows the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail from its connection with the Horse-Shoe Trail near Mount Gretna in West Cornwall Township and heads southwest for 3.6 miles. It connects to the Conewago Rail Trail just north of Elizabethtown. The 

Trail Facts

The Lebanon Valley Rail Trail is a crushed-stone shared-use trail that also accommodates equestrians. All trail users must yield to horses. Dogs must be on a leash.

Trail Access Points

Along the Highlands Trail route, the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail can be accessed at the following trailheads in South Londonderry Township:

  • Mount Gretna Trailhead (east side of Route 117 / Mt. Wilson Road)
  • Lawn Trailhead (north side of Lawn Road, off of Route 241, village of Lawn)
  • Eckert Road Trailhead (northwest corner of Eckert and Elizabethtown Roads)
